Flour tortillas from scratch, redux

Comments

oh oh oh! where is the $%#^% favorites feature???!! great post.

I grew up in Arizona on Mexican food galore. Now I live in Michigan.

I feel your pain!

I've recently starting making my own fish tacos. I might have to make some homemade tortillas one of these nights too. Thanks. :)

No problem. Like most recipes, this one will take some practice before you get the technique down pat. If you have experience making from-scratch pie crusts or biscuits, you're more than halfway there. The main thing is to not overkneed. Also, since these proportions will make more than four people can reasonably eat in one sitting, you can freeze the tortillas with little reduction in quality. Just make sure that you put a piece of waxed paper between each tortilla before freezing.

By the bye, I'd love to see a recipe for fish tacos.

great step by step guide. the photos are essential and give me that extra boost to attempt to replicate this recipe.

Thanks! I've always wanted to try this, but I thought I needed to buy a tortilla press, which is hard to justify if I've never actually made my own tortillas.
